INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS FORUM
"Global Business Network Among Muslim Nations"
International Business Forum is a voluntarily-based, non-governmental platform for gathering of Muslim business people from all over the globe where they try to stimulate trade, investment and co-operation.
This outstanding Forum was initiated by Pakistan Business Forum in September 1995 in Lahore, Pakistan, in which 600 businessmen from 23 Islamic countries took part. Having made a great progress, the 2nd IBF Congress was organized by MUSIAD between 20 22 November l996 in Istanbul, Turkey. 441 businessmen of 51 Islamic countries and 2.500 Turkish businessmen participated in the 2nd IBF Congress.
Having seen the full success of the 2nd IBF Congress and the decision to move the head office of IBF from Pakistan to Istanbul-Turkey as from November l996, the 3rd IBF Congress was organized again in Istanbul on 19 22 November 1997. The 4th IBF Congress took place in Istanbul together with the 6th MUSIAD International Trade Fair with an extensive participation between 18 22 November 1998.
By the decision of IBF Board of Governors (BOG), IBF Congress started being held on rotational basis; that is, one year in the country of IBF Headquarter –Turkey – and another year in a IBF Member country. This has given greater impetus to the development of IBF Platform and to organizational development and publicity of the host country.
The 5th IBF Congress was hosted by IBF Association of South Africa in Cape Town in April 2000, the 6th one in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, by Independent Business Fellowship of Malaysia in April 2001, the 7th Congress in Tehran / Iran by IBF Iran in October 2003, the 8th Congress in Istanbul / Turkey by IBF Headquarters in September 2004, and the last one 9th IBF Congress in Jeddah / Saudi Arabia by JCCI Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry in October 2005
10th IBF Congress was held in conjunction with 11th MUSIAD International Trade Fair between 23 26 November 2006; and, it was attended by 20 Ministers from various countries, over 1.700 participants (including representatives of diplomatic missions, buying missions, businessmen, bureaucrats) from 55 countries, and 60 members of international press.
The 11th IBF Congress was held in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on 27 29 November 2007. It has more than 1.300 international participation from 33 different countries.
12th IBF Congress was held synchronously with 12th MUSIAD International Trade Fair in Istanbul under the auspices of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of Turkey on 23-26 October 2009, it brought together 23 guest ministers and over 60 bureaucrats from 17 countries, 2.224 overseas businessmen and about 40 journalists and editors from 62 countries, thousands of MUSIAD members.
The last session-13th IBF Congress was held in Cairo Egypt with the participation 1850 delegates from 33 countries, between 12-15 October 2009 by CCC-Cairo Chamber of Commerce under the patronage of H.E. Rachid Mohamed Rachid, Egypt's Minister of Trade and Industry.
The idea behind IBF is to set up a "Global Business Network among Muslim Nations" providing a forum to identify and stimulate trade and mutual investment relationships among Muslim Businessmen throughout the world.
Objectives:
To coin and utilize the Islamic ethical virtues among the conventional business life.
To direct and empower the commercial relationships in line with national principles & interests, co-operation among the members and among the member countries at regional and global level.
To enhance the commercial activities and to develop trade among the members and the member countries.
To provide the optimal use of the potentials which will be of complementary nature in the member countries.
To promote trade and investment in the member countries.
To increase the joint-ventures in the member countries in trade and industry.
To promote joint-ventures and co-operation on manufacturing and trade projects among the member
countries of the Forum.
To support the co-operation among the members vis-à-vis technology transfer, technical assistance,
consultancy, education and transfer of the experience and know-how.
To assist with consultation-wise and institutionally to chambers of commerce and other similar organizations in order for them to modernize their practices in trade and industry field.
To give service and assistance to their members and increase their performance in their practice.
